Robert E. Snodgrass

Gas City – Robert E. Snodgrass, 83, died Monday, August 27, 2012, in Twin City Healthcare, Gas City. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana on November 17, 1928 to the late Walter and Christine (Preston) Snodgrass. Robert married Phyllis J. Stepler on July 10, 1949 and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1951-1971, retiring after 20 years of service. He also served in the United States Army. He previously worked on the railroad and was a maintenance supervisor for Tucker Vocational School. Robert enjoyed playing horse shoes and watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies. Although he never had a lesson, he played the guitar, banjo and piano, and had a beautiful singing voice. He was a member of Faith Apostolic Church, where he was very involved in church activities.

Survivors include his children, Marcia (Jerry) McNeill, Tahlequah, OK, Deborah Taylor, Kokomo, Kristina (Michael) Couture, Orland, Brenda (Randy) Thomason, Marion, Sharon (Tom) Arvin, Delphi, Peggy (Phil) Rudy, Marion, Brian Snodgrass, Huntington, Kimberly (Steve) Watkins, Marion, and Britt Snodgrass, Marion; 19 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and sister, Thelma Bowen, Russiaville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Christine Snodgrass; wife, Phyllis Snodgrass; daughter-in-law, Teresa Snodgrass; brothers, Doyle (Zelda) Snodgrass and Max (Joan) Snodgrass; sister, Geraldine Armstrong; and brother-in-law, Bob Bowen.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 and 1 hour prior to service at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana.

Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana with Clarence Hand officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Marion National Cemetery.
