Betty was an active member of the Marion Women’s Department Club, the YMCA, and Delta Chi Sigma Sorority.  She loved going to her children’s and grandchildren’s functions and also loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Barney Emerson; children, John (Brenda) Emerson (Elkhart) and Linda (NL) Pennington (Marion); grandchildren, Valerie Emerson (Elkhart), Sam (Laura) Martin (Granger), Shane (Amy) Beal, Tony Pennington, and Ric (Angela) Pennington (all from Marion); great-grandchildren, Elijah, Seth, and Avery Beal, Chris Pennington (all from North Carolina), Cameron (Sarah) Pennington (Washington, D.C.), and Kynan (Barb) Pennington (Marion), Alexa Roemke (Indianapolis), Mattias (Zoe) Roemke (Marion), and Libby, Ella, and Charlotte Martin (all from Granger); 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, John (Pat) Sullivan (White Pigeon, MI); and 6 nieces and nephews.

Betty was also preceded in death by a brother, Aubrey Sullivan; sister, Mary Roselee Ervin; and grandson, Jeffery Beal.

The family will have a memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
