At 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Betty J. Clem, 85, passed away at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Wabash on January 12, 1934, to Theodore and Irene (Pratt) Phillips.
Betty was a graduate of Wabash High School and was married to Edward Clem, who preceded her in death. Her family was her life, and she stayed home with the kids and grandkids. She was always baking or cooking something for the family. She became like a second mom to many kids in the neighborhood because of how much she took care of them as well. Betty also enjoyed reading and fishing, and she was actively involved in the Civil Defense and a member of Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include her daughters: Marilyn (Larry) Sloan, KY; Victoria Harke, AZ; Tara Nicodemus, Wabash; grandchildren: Amy, Billy, Kinnon, Kristin, Nadia, Rhiannon, Aaron, Megan, Devon, and Cheyanne; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Clem.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
