Obituary of George Arthur "Art" Wilson
George Arthur “Art” Wilson, 93, Marion, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Marion. He was born in Marion on March 26, 1926, to William M. and Grace Helen (Sanders) Wilson.
Art enlisted in the Infantry Army on September 11, 1944, and proudly served his country until July 11, 1946, with his primary military occupation being a Rifleman 745. He was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he worked at Dana Corp., where he was a toolmaker and foreman for 40 years until his retirement. Art was also a farmer for 60 years. He enjoyed going to Parents Without Partners dances, traveling, and photography.
He is survived by his son, Paul (Maria) Wilson, Largo, FL; nephew, Donny Morgan; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Grace Wilson; two sons, Doss Lee Wilson and Thomas Wilson; and his sisters, Carol, Mary, Ruth, Waneta, Wilma, and Martha.
The family will receive visitors from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Art’s funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN. Pastor Dan Van Cise will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
