Obituary of Philip Leech

Philip D. Leech, Sr. August 19, 1935 ~ August 17, 2019 Philip D. Leech, Sr., 83, Marion, passed away at 4:20 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019. He was born in Marion on Monday, August 19, 1935, to the late Harvey and Mary (Downing) Leech. On March 31, 1957, he married his loving wife, Nellie Magginnis, who survives. Philip served in the Indiana National Guard for six years and was a millwright for 43 years with Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA). He also served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years and was a co-founder of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department. Philip was a member of the American Legion and Gas City Moose Lodge, and he attended Grace Community Church. In his earlier years, he played basketball and softball in the church league. Additional interests/hobbies included playing Euchre at the Gas City Moose, fishing, and camping. His grandchildren will never forget how much time he devoted to teaching them about sports and math. He is survived by two sons, Philip D. (Laina) Leech, Jr., of Marion and William H. (Robin) Leech of Marion; three grandsons, Philip D. Leech, III, Kyle Leech, and Joey Wiggins; two granddaughters, Cassie Leech and Kortney Leech; three great-granddaughters, Kalee Leech, Bristal Leech, and Kinley Smithson; two great-grandsons, Karson Smithson and Deric Leech; and brother, Ronnie (Janet) Leech of FL. He was also preceded in death by three brothers. At Philip's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S.
