William R. Devaney, Sr., 74, Fairmount, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019. He was born in Rockwood, Tennessee, on Tuesday, June 12, 1945, to the late Virgil and Marjorie (Grimes) Devaney. He was married to Shirley J. Devaney, and she preceded him in death on June 12, 2014.
William retired as a machine attendant from Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA). In his younger years, he enjoyed building and working on cars. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Vice President of Fairmount American Legion Post 313, and member of the Masons.
He loved to hunt and fish, listen to music, and spend time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. He adored his only grandson, Seth, that he lovingly nicknamed "Little Guy". He loved his two cats, Dumper and Sir Meow.
William is survived by his daughter, Stacey (William) Turner of Swayzee; sister, Barbara Costner of Fairmount; grandson, Seth Turner of Swayzee; and good friends, Monty and Sonya.
At William's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
